Y4C and its partners launched a Call for Solutions in October 2022 that closed in March 2023. Structured as an innovation challenge, this first Y4C Call for Solutions aims to support the work of young people and youth-led or youth-focused organizations in four thematic areas: Climate Education, Energy, Food and Agriculture, and Urban Sustainability.  

From among 1,100+ proposals received, 100 projects from 63 countries were shortlisted and invited to attend the Youth4Climate: Sparking Solutions Flagship Event in Rome on 17-19 October 2023. Winners, announced at the event, will receive up to USD 20,000 in financial awards, peer-to-peer networking, as well as learning offers graciously supported by partner organizations.

The Youth4Climate annual flagship event has become one of the most anticipated climate events globally gathering young climate activists, innovators, government representatives, UN agencies, private and nonprofit organizations. 

Y4C hosts this event since 2021, when it was first held in Milan, Italy as part of the pre-COP Summit. This event resulted in the Youth4Climate Manifesto - a bold plan for climate action in which youth delegates from around the world shared their vision and demands in four thematic areas (youth driving ambition, sustainable recovery, non-state actors’ engagement, and climate-conscious society).  

The 2022 event, Youth4Climate: Powering Action was held in New York, and it launched the collaboration between the Government of Italy and UNDP in delivering Youth4Climate as a longer-term initiative in support of youth climate leaders. 

The 2023 flagship event took place in Rome from October 17 to 19, under the theme Youth4Climate: Sparking Solutions.
