Welcome to the Climate Catalysts Mentorship Programme 3.0 Movement Building bootcamp!

The Youth4Capacity and Re-Earth Initiative teams are super excited that you are here to learn and engage with us. We invite you to share a short introduction (4-6 sentences) about yourself and answer the following icebreaker question as a response to this post:

You have one billboard in your city for 24 hours. What message do you put on it?

We also encourage you to take time reading, reacting, and responding to the introductions of others to build mutual connections and foster community within the shared space.

Jasco John

Hello. My name is Jasco John from Tanzania ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ. I am a CPA, policy researcher, academic, development and sustainable finance professional with a passion for sustainable and inclusive development.

If I had a billboard for 24 hours, I would use it to launch a policy manifesto designed to provoke a national conversation on the true cost of growth. The billboard would draw public and institutional attention away from greenwashed, static metrics toward a more rigorous, data-driven understanding of climate finance and fiscal readiness.

Hi Mariam Gibson Bwire as a young climate advocate your voice will be greatly appreciated you might just have the next best idea out of the continent

Don't give up on the person you're becoming.
Jean Coper

Hi, I am Jean. I lead initiatives that engage students in science-based and just climate action. Drawing on my experience in government and international non-governmental organization settings, I inspire and equip young people to lead climate initiatives rooted in knowledge, teamwork, and a common goal of a sustainable future.
If given the chance to use a billboard in our city for 24 hours, the message I would put is :
"A Fossil-Free Future Starts with Us"
I chose this because the statement would hopefully encourage everyone to join the movement, starting with us, to end our dependence on fossil fuels by supporting renewable energy policies, switching to clean energy alternatives, or simply raising awareness in our own communities.
That it starts with us (you and me) to end our dependence on fossil fuels and build a better planet.

Jose Gonzalo Flores

Hi Jean, I really appreciate your emphasis on science-based and just climate action. I think those two elements are often discussed separately when they actually need to work together.

Your message about a fossil-free future โ€œstarting with usโ€ is also powerful because it highlights collective responsibility instead of waiting for change to come only from governments or institutions. Real transitions happen when communities, young people, and decision-makers begin pushing in the same direction.

Looking forward to learning more about the initiatives youโ€™re leading with students.

A road built on dead souls of the 9000 trees!? Why do we cut so many trees in the name of development? Did you not notice the impact of this action yet.... Increasing temperatures? Let us all get together to make this world a little more heaven. Let us grow trees.

My message for my community and locals would be this.... This is what i want to put up on the bill board! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป

Zena Kishek

Hello! My name is Zena Kishek, and I am really excited to be here with you all! Currently, I am in high school, researching how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from mycelium-based composite production, to make the material carbon-negative. I am incredibly interested in learning more about sustainable engineering and biomaterials, as well as their applications and how to best integrate them.

If I had a billboard in my city for a day, my message would be "It costs less to care more" because implementing sustainablility into processes tends to also decrease costs, yet this tends to be overlooked due to high implementation costs.

Daria Memoona

Hello, everyone, this is Daria here, I'm a student currently in IGCSE. Honestly, seeing so many talented and highly qualified people here makes me feel nervous and excited at the same time. I don't have many hobbies but I really like music and poetry sometimes, I adore maths too. I would love to one day help serve the cause of reducing the huge threat of climate change around the world and my country.

If I had a billboard in my city for a day, it would be "Climate change isnโ€™t coming. Itโ€™s billing us already."

Jose Gonzalo Flores

Hi Daria, first of all, you absolutely shouldnโ€™t feel intimidated. The fact that youโ€™re here, curious, reflective, and willing to engage with these issues already matters a lot.

I actually think itโ€™s really valuable to have younger voices in spaces like this because climate change will shape your generation more than anyone elseโ€™s. Also, I love that you mentioned music, poetry, and maths together, thatโ€™s such an interesting combination of creativity and analytical thinking.

And honestly, your billboard message is one of the most memorable ones Iโ€™ve seen so far.

Belรฉn Acosta

Hi everyone! My name is Belรฉn, and Iโ€™m an environmental engineer from Paraguay currently working as a Technical Consultant in the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory, specifically in the IPPU sector. My work focuses on industrial emissions, climate reporting, and strengthening national capacities for greenhouse gas inventories. Iโ€™m also passionate about youth engagement, climate education, and creating spaces where people can better understand the connection between everyday actions and climate change. I joined this programme because I want to strengthen my movement-building skills and connect with people creating meaningful climate action around the world.

If I had one billboard in my city for 24 hours, it would say: โ€œClimate action is not a distant future, itโ€™s the choices we make every single day.โ€ :)

Jose Gonzalo Flores

Hi Belรฉn, itโ€™s great to connect with someone working so closely on national climate reporting and greenhouse gas inventories.

I really like your point about helping people understand the connection between everyday actions and climate change. I think one of the biggest challenges in climate communication is making these issues feel tangible and relevant to daily life rather than distant or abstract.

Also, your billboard message is powerful precisely because it reminds people that climate action is not only about future policies, but also about present choices and collective responsibility.

Viviana Yanez

Hi everyone! I'm Vivi from Quito, Ecuador. I'm an environmental engineer currently leading the project 18000 รrboles, 18000 Puembeรฑos. It is a community-led ecological restoration initiative based in Puembo, Ecuador. Through the creation of urban biocorridors, native plant nurseries, environmental education, and collective action, we are restoring degraded ecosystems while rebuilding community ties and reconnecting people with nature.

Together with volunteers, schools, local organizations, and neighbors, we've planted thousands of native trees and plants along the Chaquiรฑรกn ecological corridor and surrounding urban areas, promoting biodiversity, climate resilience, and participatory environmental stewardship.

Follow our journey and learn more about our work here:
@18milarbolespuembo (https://www.instagram.com/18milarbolespuembo/)

Jose Gonzalo Flores

Hi Vivi, this is genuinely inspiring work.

I really appreciate how your project combines ecological restoration with community participation and environmental education instead of treating them as separate efforts. The idea of rebuilding both ecosystems and community ties at the same time feels especially powerful and necessary.

Also, creating urban biocorridors through collective action is such a meaningful approach to resilience and long-term stewardship. Looking forward to learning more about your work throughout the programme.

Radhika Singh

Hi everyone, Iโ€™m Radhika from India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ. I have a background in Geography and am now pursuing Geoinformatics, with interests in climate action, geospatial technologies, and youth-led change. Iโ€™m especially interested in how spatial thinking can make climate conversations more inclusive, grounded, and actionable. Excited to learn and collaborate with this global community.

If I had one billboard in my city for 24 hours, it would say:
โ€œClimate change is not a future event. It is a present geography.โ€

Winfred Cecilia Batte

Hi my name is Batte Winfred Cecilia from Uganda. I am the Projects Coordinator at Kampala Archdiocese Youth Apostolate leading the "great awakening" to the Green transition among church youths where the Climate mandate has been quiet/inactive. The Catholic church actually advocates for Climate action under the 'Laudato Si" mandate and I am excited to be spearheading this movement among youths in the central Uganda where the Archdiocese covers. We are currently setting up youth green hubs starting with the Central hub to be a model for practical climate solutions to enable youth participation. I also happen to come from a nursing background and working at the frontline of COVID 19 pandemic got me questioning world systems and how global crises actually arise...one story led to another and now I am here in the middle of managing another global crisis (Climate Crisis) but outside hospital๐Ÿ˜„. IF I HAD A BILLBOARD IN MY CITY FOR 24 HOURS IT WOULD SAY, "SOMETHING HAS PERMANENTLY SWITCHED IN OUR WEATHER &CLIMATE PATTERNS; COVID-19 PANDEMIC MAY HAVE CAUGHT US OFFGUARD BUT WITH THE CLIMATE CRISIS, WE HAVE ALL IT TAKES TO TURN THINGS AROUND - LET'S FIGHT FOR OUR PLANET - TAKE ACTION TODAY๐ŸŒณ"

Hello everyone, My name is Brian Mutiso from Kenya. I'm currently participating in the youth 4 climate solutions 2026. My solution is towards creating system and behavioral change to indigenous farmers in a region from Kenya through provision of regenerative agriculture practices, organic farming and introduction of tuber growing crops which will impact the climate condition of the region.
On the billboard I would advertise that, "Climate solutions start by individual contribution" when each individual is focus at conserving the environment, it will be easy to advocate for environmental conservation due to awareness and efforts brought by each person.

Ari Calvo

Hi friends! I'm Ari from Lima, Peru. I've cared for the environment for as long as I have a conscience because of my dear grandpa, who taught me to love Pachamama, our mother, as much as I loved him and his teachings. Nowadays I'm working on a grassroots project to clean our Lima beaches from oil spills using low-cost technology. In the little free time I get from my regular job, I read on alternative beliefs and imagination from our status quo, create art, and do my best to build community in my city.
Considering people in my city are mostly overwhelmed immediate daily threats as opposed to abstract climate change, I would put in a billboard: "Life, love, community, the green earth and blue sky. That's all that matters. Let's build that reality."

Jose Gonzalo Flores

Hello everyone! My name is Gonzalo and I am from Bolivia. I work on community climate resilience, youth leadership and social innovation projects focused on vulnerable communities. I am passionate about building local solutions that connect climate action, participation and territorial development. I joined this programme to learn from others, strengthen networks and help create more just and sustainable futures together.

If I had one billboard in my city for 24 hours, my message would be:
